Regular water testing is key to maintaining healthy livestock. This guide covers the basics of testing your ranch water supply.

What to Test For

PH levels (ideal: 6.5-8.5) Total dissolved solids (TDS) Nitrates and nitrites. Coliform bacteria. Sulfates. Blue-green algae.

Testing Frequency

  • Municipal water: Annually
  • Well water: Every 6 months
  • Surface water: Monthly during summer
  • After any contamination event: Immediately
