For everyone near the tractor

Stand in a safe area away from the tractor and its tools. Make sure the driver knows where you are. Never approach a moving tractor.

For the trained adult driver

Use the operator’s manual and job training. A roll bar or safety frame helps protect the driver in a roll. Use the seat belt with proper rollover protection.

  1. Keep extra riders off the tractor.
  2. Start the tractor from the driver’s seat.
  3. Before leaving the seat, stop on level ground. Lower the tools to the ground, turn off their drive, set the brake or park, stop the engine, and take out the key. Wait for every moving part to stop.

If a tool jams

Turn off the tool drive, stop the engine, and take out the key. Wait for all parts to stop. Follow the manual’s steps to make the machine safe before working on it. Never reach into moving parts.
