A person in the heat

Confused, having a seizure, or passed out?

This may be heat stroke. Call 911 now. Start cooling while help comes.

  1. Cool them right away. Move them to a cooler place only if it is safe. Wet skin and clothing with cool water. Use cold wet cloths.
  2. Do not give food or drink to a confused or unconscious person.
  3. Stay with them. Follow the dispatcher’s instructions.

They may still be sweating. Do not wait for dry skin to get help.

Where
Street address, town or county, and the gate or entrance to use.
How to reach you
Your field or pen, nearby landmarks, and any locked gate.

Look after the animals, too

Get the right animal help.

Sick or injured animal

Call your veterinarian.

Describe the animal, what changed, and where you are. Ask what to do before treating or moving it. If your usual vet is closed, use their emergency or on-call number.

Young helpers: tell an adult. Do not enter the pen or try to catch or treat the animal.

Think a person was poisoned?

If they collapse, have a seizure, struggle to breathe, or cannot be woken, call 911. For other suspected poisoning, call Poison Help right away.
